I run a legitimate dating service for singles NOT an escort service by any means. Yet, I’m having difficulties acquiring a merchant account for my client’s to be able to pay by credit or debit card. Why is this a problem? And, how would you suggest I get a merchant account?

   Unfortunately, your business is classified as a high risk nature of business and getting a merchant account is difficult. Perhaps the best thing to do is to work on getting an actual sales rep to come out to your location and do the application. If you can show this rep how legitimate your business, they can then in turn advocate on your behalf to their adjudication department. There’s no guarantee you will be approved since all Acquirers have certain businesses that they will not approve but this could increase your chance of getting approved.
