   There are certain options available now through a few Canadian Acquirers that will turn your smart device into a terminal. They have an addon card reader that allows you to swipe the transaction and you log in by going to a website managed by the Acquirer. It leverages the Acquirers online solution and uses the security that has been set up already.

   The downfall, currently systems can only accept mag swipe transactions so you cannot accept Interac transactions and you also accept the liability for credit card chargebacks.
